The development is planned to bring Fairview its first 24-hour emergency department alongside expanded outpatient services.
Ascension Saint Thomas is investing $20.6 million to build and operate the freestanding emergency department at 1866 Fairview Blvd., according to the announcement. The 11,345-square-foot facility is planned to include 10 treatment rooms, two triage rooms, a trauma room, CT, X-ray and ultrasound imaging, and a full-service laboratory. Ascension said emergency services will be available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
The emergency department is expected to open in fall 2027, while construction of Dickson Medical Associates’ facility is expected to be completed in 2028, Ascension said. The emergency department is expected to create about 35 jobs once it opens.
Dickson Medical Associates plans to provide primary care, express care, behavioral health and other specialties at the campus, according to the announcement. The two providers said their services will be located next to each other, with patients needing emergency care referred to Ascension Saint Thomas.
The Tennessee Health Facilities Commission approved Ascension Saint Thomas’ certificate of need application for the emergency department on May 27, 2026, the announcement said. Ascension, Dickson Medical Associates and the City of Fairview are coordinating site access and traffic-flow plans with nearby neighborhoods as construction proceeds, according to Ascension.
