Middle Tennessee State University plans to test tornado sirens at 11:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, on its Murfreesboro campus and at the Miller Coliseum Complex, the university announced. The test is weather permitting, according to MTSU.

MTSU said its University Police Department conducts the brief test to check the outdoor warning system. The university said no safety actions are needed and campus activities will not be affected.

The university said siren tests are generally held on the first Monday of each month, except during university holidays or other special circumstances. MTSU said organizers may cancel a test without notice if severe weather is forecast or occurring near campus at the scheduled time.

MTSU said students, faculty and staff automatically receive Rave Mobile Safety alerts at their university email addresses during weather emergencies. Campus community members can sign up for Rave text or voice alerts through the link on the university’s weather page, according to the announcement.

MTSU’s listed 2026-27 test dates after Nov. 2 are Dec. 7, Jan. 4, Feb. 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7 and July 5, the university said. The announcement lists no test for July 5 because of the Fourth of July holiday.
