Middle Tennessee State University Athletics said the Blue Raiders women’s soccer team drew 2-2 with Sam Houston on Sunday, Oct. 4, in Murfreesboro, after Megan Carroll scored from about 40 yards with just under six minutes left.

MTSU took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute when Hannah Murphy finished a pass from Saachi Bureau. Sam Houston’s Gianna Gomez converted a penalty kick in the 34th minute, and Sara Benton scored before halftime to put the Bearkats ahead 2-1, according to the athletics announcement.

Carroll’s equalizer came in the 85th minute after Zoey Kulas took a quick throw-in to her. The announcement said the assist was the first of Kulas’ collegiate career and Carroll’s goal was her second of the season.

MTSU finished with 22 shots, including 15 on target, while goalkeeper Demi Gronauer made six saves, the university said. The draw left the Blue Raiders with an 8-3-3 overall record and a 1-1-1 Conference USA record, placing them fifth in the conference, according to the announcement.

The Blue Raiders are scheduled to play at Missouri State on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m., then travel to Delaware on Oct. 18; the announcement did not list a time for the Delaware match.
