Elizabeth Magoma was named Conference USA Women’s Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Middle Tennessee State University Athletics announced Oct. 20.
Magoma led Middle Tennessee’s women’s team with an eighth-place finish in the 6K at the meet last Friday, finishing in 19:42.5 among 184 runners, according to the announcement. She was the second junior to finish, the university said.
Her result helped the Blue Raiders place fifth among 19 teams, ahead of Kennesaw State, Auburn and Tennessee Tech, the announcement said. It also marked Magoma’s first weekly honor as a Blue Raider, according to Middle Tennessee State Athletics.
The Blue Raiders are scheduled to travel to Tuscaloosa for the Conference USA Championships on Oct. 31, the university said. The announcement did not provide a start time or venue details for the championship.
